CARNIVAL
- Wendy (29th Oct 2022  21:01:51)

Full credit to the organisers/Marshall’s at tonight’s Liphook Carnival. The floats etc were amazing, absolutely brilliant, well done to you all. Food and drink down Station Road was a good added touch. Hope it’s not the last carnival 😥.

What a brilliant night . The atmosphere in the village was super. We have been going for at least 65 years and were involved for many years with the Krazy Lads. . Congratulations to the commentator and sound system. Thank you for a very special village event.
WELL DONE TO ALL

It was a brilliant evening - great floats - terrific atmosphere - hard-working marshalls - such first class organization from the Carnival Committee - and a running commentary from Matt Carroll filling in a couple of long gaps due to an emergency with real professionalism. Thank you to everyone involved in such a successful evening for Liphook.

Great carnival but now time to reflect how to keep this tradition going. A significant reason for the carnival is to generate funds and I wonder in this app pay/mobile phone age age how many people were unable to make donations in the night as they no longer carry cash? From the numbers who I saw apologising as the didn’t carry any I suspect not that much was taken in the buckets. Also, other than the locally produced floats (which were brilliant) I assume the bands, dancers, steam tractors etc all had to be paid for? Clearly local contribution is also essential, marshals did a good job but there were so few of us this year, I know health and safety suffered this year which will need to be resolved if the carnival is to survive

Hi,
Well done all who participated in our Carnival. A great show ,and a credit to all involved. Having an event at night with lights and fireworks, looks so much better than daytime shows elsewhere.

Having a break since Covid, and to re-start, shows all generations living here, what a great place Liphook can be to enjoy life together.

First and foremost a massive thank you to the carnival committee and all the marshals helpers etc . My first carnival was when I was about eleven at Bramshott school we put a float in called school dinners what a mess .In the 70 years since having been in many times with Ripsley cricket club, academy of dance, and then our family The motley crew for many years and Marshalling as well.. I was very saddened to think it may not carry on but this year being in it again with Liphook in bloom was just like old times. If there are any families out there that enjoyed Saturday night then try it for your self’s it’s so enjoyable and not to hard to do. We have a fantastic village great community let’s see if we can keep it going if I can walk around looking silly at 81 anybody can .

Yes wonderful night liphook at its best. It would be great if it could carry on .Perhaps some of our newcomers if they enjoyed it could come forward and help with the organisation’s more hands make light work as they say. Again thank you for making it a fantastic evening.

This year's Carnival was good, the previous 3 or 4 were quite sad and it's been years since any Carnival has matched the glory days of the 70's and 80's. 2022 was probably a better event than prior recent ones because it was missed so much due to Covid! Just a blip in the downward trend probably

Rather than drag it out another year or so and see it inevitably start to diminish again, let's go out on a high this year and accept this is the last one.

I have heard that people have come forward to help. And a massive amount of money was collected so I think if possible it should keep going. We have had ups and downs in the past but it seems there was quite a few new faces in it this year perhaps it will take off again. Let’s hope so because it’s the only night carnival around here I think only one other in Bridgewater Somerset.
