Could you be a Volunteer Driver?

If so Liphook Voluntary Care would love to hear from you. We are a registered local charity whose main function is to provide transport to medical appointments for those, mostly elderly, people in the community who do not own a car or who through disability etc are unable to drive. No costs to you (other than time!). No special insurance needed, DBS checks carried out at no cost to you, fuel/running costs reimbursed/mile. Very flexible - you decide when you can help - many of our drivers do just one trip a week or less. A typical journey would be a return journey to the Royal Surrey Hospital to take a local person to a medical appointment. Hi --- we are having a Volunteers of Liphook coffee morning at Millennium on Tuesday (tomorrow.10.30 - 11.30) for people to hear about various groups..... might be worth coming along

I am a 'Volunteer Driver', for several years now and can recommend it. Suitable for anyone with a car and no full-time job.
The days and times are not fixed, you choose when you are available; the trips fit-in with your own normal routines & commitments.
I do one or sometimes two trips per week, normally to one of our surgeries, Haslemere Hospital, Guildford Hospital, occasionally QA Hospital Cosham.
I find it not burdensome or excessively time-consuming. A mileage allowance is received. You do provide character references and are CRB checked.
