Acrid burning smell Locke Road early morning
- C (11th Aug 2023 08:13:03)
This morning around 5am there was a very acrid almost chemical burning smell. Didn’t seem to come from Radford Park but couldn't ascertain from where. Did anyone else smell this?

There is often a burning smell around Liphook at night. This is not the same as people burning leaves etc.
For years someone or some people are regularly burning what I suspect is general waste - at night. The fact that it's at night might suggest someone doesn't really want their actions to be known, perhaps they run a rubbish removal service or create rubbish from e.g. a building job?
Again, it's the fact that this happens late at night suggests someone may not want others to see what's going on?

A lot of people have log burners, and perhaps having them on at 5 am is the one time their neighbours won't notice the toxic smoke they're pumping out, worse than all traffic pollution out together and doubled apparently, have a nice warm room ready for breakfast time, just hope your neighbours don't sleep with their windows open!

Has anyone considered the possibility the smell may be emanating from the sewage treatment works at Shottermill? No, didn't even know it is there, did you?

Get of your bike er just who would have a wood burning stove going in this hot weather. Wood burning stoves are ok not as bad as motor fumes which is far more toxic. Especially with the huge increase in traffic through liphook it’s a wonder we all aren’t dead from it .

Was most definitely not a log burner.

A silly comment from ER also I live closer to the shottermill sewage works than most people in Liphook and have never smelt anything. It would probably not be acrid either.

Have you smelt this smell at this time of year before?

Maybe the under used and not very proactive parish council may have some powers they could bring to the table here so as to provide some support with resolving these anti social behaviours from happening in the area?
Or maybe they’re too busy closing down public amenities like that skate park or drafting the most useless (clearly copied and pasted from elsewhere) and poorly informed plans for future development in the area.
Is the parish council not there to serve the community instead of serving themselves?

Some serious allegations there, I'm sure James can back them up.
